Over the past year, the Greening Congregations Initiative has been engaging houses of worship, small businesses and multi-family properties in the Sherman Park, Harambee and Lindsay Heights neighborhoods. The goal is to pursue decarbonization and green stormwater management infrastructure (GSI).

After a year of outstanding outreach, webinars and workshops, this past week the team launched a GSI in Sherman Park, starting with a rain garden and rain barrel installation at a multi-family property. You can see some photos of the project below.

This effort is being supported by the energy and dedication of young people from Washington High School who live in Sherman Park and Harambee, and they’re just getting started. They want to build a more resilient future for our community, one installation at a time. Many thanks to the Greening Congregations Initiative partners, including Clean Wisconsin.
