Recently, our Greening Congregations Youth Corps visited the Jones Island Water Reclamation Facility for a real-world STEM learning experience. Their tour demonstrated how science, technology, engineering and environmental stewardship work together to protect Milwaukee’s waterways and Lake Michigan. During the tour, our young people learned:
- how wastewater is collected, treated and safely returned to Lake Michigan.
- how biosolids from wastewater treatment are recycled and converted into Milorganite fertilizer.
- career opportunities in environmental science, engineering, water management and the skilled trades.
