The Greening Congregations Summer Youth Corps Program recently completed Day 1 and Day 2 of technical training on stormwater management practices. In these sessions, 23 Milwaukee young people learned about rain gardens and rain barrels as key strategies for managing stormwater. Then, following the training, they installed each of these systems on the property where the training sessions were held. Also, as a part of the training, a facilitator taught the students soft skills, including communication, teamwork, safety and situational awareness.

These sessions, which will run through this August, provide the foundation for the summer activities of Greening Congregations. They align with the program’s environmental stewardship and outdoor education framework, promoting responsible management of natural resources while supporting economic growth in our community.
